TODD HUTCHINGS

Competing in the sport since the fall of 2000, Todd Hutchings has become one of the best 200-pound armwrestlers in North America in only five years.  He has consistently finished at the top of all armwrestling events in which he has competed since becoming a professional.  From 2001 to 2004, Hutchings won several state championships in Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina.  He has since earned much recognition at the national level as he took 2nd place in the 2004 Unified National Championships – an event nationally televised on ESPN.

Hutchings has been very successful in 2005.  He was crowned 2005 American Armsport National Champion after winning the national championships held in Columbia, South Carolina.  He has taken 2nd place at several other championships – second only to legendary John Brzenk.  Two of these events – the Pull at the Plaza II and the United States Armwrestling Championships – were televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.

In order to achieve such success in only five years, Hutchings has utilized an intense work ethic.  He weight trains four days per week at 5:00 a.m., and then weight trains an additional two evenings per week at 7:00 p.m.  He also practices armwrestling during one evening each week.  Hutchings practices variety and innovation in his training by extensively using rubber stretch bands, chains, and kettlebells.  He trains for power and speed, and has even designed several pieces of equipment intended to help him attain these attributes.  Hutchings reviews, and often changes, his workouts following every armwrestling competition which only further illustrates his drive for success.

Away from the gym and the sport of armwrestling, Hutchings prides himself on being an accomplished bow-hunter and a competitive archer.  An alum of both Michigan Technological University and Purdue University, he is employed by Siemens Diesel Systems where he designs and tests diesel engines and fuel systems.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, and two boys of ages eight and five.  As den leader for a Cub Scouts troop, Todd also enjoys passing his excellent skills as an outdoorsman on to his own boys as well as other youths.

Todd started in Fall of 2000. In less than 5 years became one of the best 200 pound armwrestlers in North America.
